Palestinian Security Force Members Head to Jordan for U.S.-Funded Training
On Thursday last, the Palestinian President sent 500 members of a security force for training in Jordan. The training is being funded by the U.S. and the force will be trained for several months in police tactics. This is the second battalion from President Abbas’s National Security Force to receive this type of training funded by the U.S. This is part of the Bush administration plan to bring about a peace deal between Israel and Palestine. The first battalion that was trained is now back in the Gaza Strip.
This training has caused tension between Abbas’s Fatah faction and Hamas, currently controlling the Gaza Strip.
