Tragedy Strikes Turkey’s Most Innocent
Tragedy has struck Turkey recently. There has been a “string of baby deaths” that has sent “shock waves across Turkey.” The incidents first started in July, when 27 newborns were found dead in a Turkish hospital within two weeks. Now, three months later, Turkey is suffering from a similar tragedy–thirteen premature babies have been found dead in a hospital in Izmir. A conclusion has been reached that the cause of death is infection in the IV units for the infants. This misfortune comes at time when Turkey seeks to be seen as modern by the rest of the world, as they are trying to gain admission to the European Union.
