Yemen Says No More Refugees
Yemen’s unstable economy is undergoing even more hardships with the emigration of many Ethiopians and Eritreans. Yemen allows Somali refugees into the country, but recently many Ethiopians and Eritreans have been going through Somalia in order to get into Yemen. The emigrants have been a drain on the economy because many of the Ethiopians and Eritreans have been detained by local police forces but said that they were in the country seeking refugee status.
Because of the large influx of refugees, Yemeni officials have decided to close their borders for the moment while they decide whether or not they will be letting in other refugees.
