In Israel, Livni Has Slight Edge
According to new polls, Kadima leader Tzipi Livni is showing a slight lead over Likud party chairman Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu has been a front runner in polls for Prime Minister over the last two years. Labor party chairman Ehud Barak also dismissed talks of a joint electoral list with Livni’s Kadima party. Surveys have shown an even split, resulting in a deadlock, between the country’s left-center and right-center blocs. This has contributed to the stalling of peacemaking in the past.
