180 People Killed in Yemen Floods
Last week very heavy rainfall hit areas of Yemen and led to a disastrous flood killing an estimated 100 people, according to government sources. The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees put the death toll higher, at 180, citing the country’s Ministry of Health. The agency also said about 2,000 homes had been destroyed, also citing the ministry.
The United Nations has sent 11 trucks carrying supplies in order to help refugees who have had their homes destroyed by the flood. Along with the UN, Saudi Arabia will be sending $100 million in aid, food, and medicine for all of the people of Yemen that were affected by the flood.
