UN to Recognize Saudi Arabia’s Interfaith Dialogue Initiative
King Abdullah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has started the interfaith dialogue initiative, a movement to create a larger amount of understanding between the different faiths around the world. The interfaith dialogue initiative is trying to promote the principle of dialogue and mutual understanding between different religious groups of the world. Faisal bin Muammar, the secretary general of King Abdul Aziz National Dialogue Center believes that “dialogue promotes openness and freedom of expression and prevents bias and seclusions.” King Abdullah is also supporting the building of a center for dialogue and cooperation in Poland. Saudi Arabia has been praised for this step toward world peace and cooperation, being named as “opening a new era of international relations.” The United Nations announced that it will hold a special assembly at the level of world leaders November 12-13 in New York to discuss the interfaith dialogue initiative.
