President of Pakistan Visits with Saudi Arabia King in Riyadh
President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah to discuss the financial issues facing Pakistan. Pakistan is seeking immediate help from its friends and neighbors in order to help subdue the economic crisis it has fallen into. President Zardari is asking for oil under the condition that they defer payment for it until the state is in better economic standing. At the conclusion of the dinner meeting, Saudi Arabia agreed to support the “Friends of Pakistan” initiative, proving a positive outcome of this important first meeting of state leaders. Other topics discussed among the leaders included Saudi Arabia’s new inter-faith dialogue and the security-related issues of each nation. Overall the meeting is being viewed as a beneficial on both sides.
