Israel Will Ship Minimal Fuel to Gaza
On Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak decided that Israel would resume minimal fuel shipments to Gaza to power its electricity plant. Israel ceased shipments last week following rocket fire and a gun battle between the Israeli Defense Force and Hamas fighters. Gaza has only one power plant, and Israel is the only provider of fuel for that plant. The border crossing will still remain closed even when fuel shipments resume. The past week of conflict has been straining the five-month peace agreement that was in place between Israel and the Palestinians over Gaza.
