Terrorist Attacks in Syria
The Syrian government is reeling over a recent attack in northern Lebanon. It is placing the blame on Islamic militants tied to Al Qaeda, based in a Palestinian refugee camp located in the country. This attack is on the heels of a strike in Damascus, Syria’s capital. The different factions involved are tied to the two distinct divisions of Islam – Sunni and Shi’ite and their specific reasons for conflict in this instance.
When reading this article and with the U.S.’s continued occupation in Iraq – what if any progress have U.S. and coalition forces made in preventing terrorist attacks like this one; and in calming radical Islamic extremists?
