Libyan Humanitarian Ship Turns Back
As mentioned in an earlier post, a humanitarian naval ship had left Libya and was headed for Gaza with hopes of delivering food, medicine, blankets, and more to Palestinian refugees. The ship, though, was forced to turn around after being unable to break anĀ Israeli blockade.
Instead of being able to deliver the goods to Gaza, the ship sailed to a port in Egypt.
In the past, though, Israel has not stopped humanitarian ships from sailing to Gaza.
An embargo, put on Gaza by the Israelis, has been more closely followed during the past few weeks due to an increase in border clashes. The tightened embargo is intended to put pressure on Hamas, which is in need of the goods that would come from the humanitarian aid.
