The rescued were thought to be pirates because their boat contained AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenades. There is argument over whether or not  a Yemeni ship earlier attacked the small boat, but the only thing that is certain is that the suspected pirates are now in Yemeni control.

The amount will go up from 30 million to 50 million dollars for the next two years.  The money will be going to the poor communities in Yemen that are struggling to get aid and food.  The number of refugees currently in Yemen is a strain on the economy, which is why the World Food Program has decided to give more money to the country.

Yemen, Qatar, Cyprus and Jordan have plans to send ships at different times carrying humanitarian aid for the region.

Because of the blockade 70% of the Gaza area is without electricity. The United Nations has even ceased trying to aid the regions because of the eighteen month long blockade of Gaza.

Along with those rescued, the Yemen Coast Guard found eight dead bodies near the beach where the refugees were found.  Because Yemen holds the policy of allowing Somali refugees into their country, they will be allowed to stay in Yemen.

Their main topic of discussion was the higher education possibilities in Yemen and the Philippines.  The Philippines already has their foot in the door of higher education and Yemen hopes to get a helping hand in learning about their style of higher education.  One way that Yemen would be helped by the Philippines is a trading of English teachers between the two countries.

On Wednesday, December 3rd the Somali pirates released the ship.  They are expected to go back to their pirate headquarters in Eyl Port.

The regional center for the group will be located in Yemen and two other locations will be opening up in Tanzania and Kenya in the near future.  These locations will hopefully prevent future piracy hijackings in the area.

The World Bank which has much business in Yemen predicts that the country’s oil reserve could be completely gone by the year 2017.  This is a major problem for the country since oil is its “cash crop.”  Its political problems are in no better position as it must constantly deal with Islamic militants.  Yemen must figure out how it will be dealing with these problems in the near future.
